Litchfield Beach means Lowcountry Located on the South Carolina coast between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, Litchfield Beach offers families and vacationers a relaxed, laid back vacation experience – a lowcountry vacation experience. This area is a quaint, unincorporated community governed by Georgetown County, was settled by rice planters in the early 1700s.
The area’s name came from Litchfield Plantation, a former rice plantation in the community, and since unlike Myrtle Beach – development hasn’t overtaken its beachfront – you can still stroll through historic sites from the 18th century or comb the whites sands of uncrowded beaches. Or dine at one of dozens of succulent Lowcountry restaurants, which serve mouth watering seafood and home cooking. And if you’re up for some challenging play, this area is home to world class golf courses – which are all part of the Waccamaw Golf Trail. Though only half an hour away from popular Myrtle Beach, Litchfield Beach is a very natural, quiet and reserved area that appeals to day trippers, vacationers and retirees alike.
Over the centuries, Georgetown County has served its visitors well and that caring attitude is still just as true today.
